Day 47 – escape the vortex

June 9th
Miles: 702.4 to 704.8

Cicadas sing us awake at the campground.  People get up and use the bathroom and are walking around. As always my cohorts are with me.

I get my pack set, it is heavy. Too heavy, the most I have carried. I get my bounce bucket out to Tuolumne Meadows. I have some beers, we start cutting hair.  We all get Mohawk haircuts, it is awesome.

Leaving is rough,  everyone has different ideas for what to do after.  I need to not waste time and get to Yosemite, others need to wait on people.

I left with my ten days of food, I will go to VVR and resupply for a couple days before Mammoth.

I sleep by a river,  four miles from KM. Cannot risk the vortex in the morning.
